Carroll
Loved by Slaven but what does he offer when the perfect cross isnt coming??

Keeps both Hernandes and Sakho out from the #1 striker place.

Decent squad player, but thats it.

Slavens persistance on using him makes me mad, and the team bad

Re: Carroll
Always switch on always trying to do something
plays all over the pitch-yes yes his a centre forward but if his got basic players around him doing nothing he will go looking for the ball -(the spurs mistake ) in the heat of the moment.

Plays for the shirt - beats 80% of the players that hasn't over last ten years.

Carroll is a much better player than some would have you believe on here, the injuries have always been the problem with him.

Re: Carroll
On the law of averages he'll have his one good game in ten soon, score a brace and this board will be lit up with comments on how he's maligned and should be in the England squad....either that or he will be injured.

Re: Carroll
Carroll is a good player. Actually pretty good close control who would actually thrive in a league like Italy’s.
(Look at how well Dzeko has done since going there).

The problem we have with him is that we don’t have enough creative players at the club that can keep the ball in the opponents half to make Caroll a focal point of our attack. Because Caroll without doubt is the SLOWEST player in the whole division.

I think our goal keeper could beat him to the oppositions area even if Caroll started on the half way line!

That’s why Caroll is hardly ever in the box for a cross when we have a quick counter attack. He just can’t get there. So it’s a shame but the reality is we have never played better as a team than we have had Shako and Valencia up front. Pace destroys teams in this league. Caroll doesn’t have it at all and we are not skilled enough to really bring him in games properly.

So he acts like some oil tanker cruising in and taking age to turn around on the pitch. Yes he’s hard to defend against but that requires him to be in danger areas and if you pass it quickly enough he’ll never be in danger areas. Sakho on the over hand will hound you to death and force errors all day.

So yes, he’s a great player to have around especially when you’ve committed a lot of players up front if your pushing for a goal. But in normal play, especially at the start of matches I’m don’t think he’s the answer at all. Not for this league and not for how we should be playing given the squad we have.

And finally, if he can’t really press defences and he’s not scoring goals you do wonder what’s the point sometimes...

With respect, you have low expectations of a main striker then.

We have had games where he has been our best defender.

That's how shit we are.

Re: Carroll
How about he works hard at being in the right place on the pitch, practicing holding a ball up, passing and shooting.

Running around like a headless chicken and ending up on the wing, at left back or getting in the way of defenders and midfielders doesn't help the shape or fluidity of an already disjointed team.

I don't doubt he is desperate after being out so long to make an impact but maybe he needs to show a bit more intelligence and focus on his own game utilising his strengths in an area of the pitch we need him in.

Yes, mate. That's why I posted that we are no longer shipping three goals 'EVERY' game. Which we were until his return.

I've offered praise to Noble when he's played well and I think my criticism of his performances have now been well and truly vindicated of late when even his staunchest of supporters can offer no defence to his performances.

That was the moron known as East Auckland Hammer, formerly known as Jonah Lomas who changed his username after his hero croaked. But yes, the Kiwi prick actually had a pop at Carroll for working too hard. Simply beggars belief the type of morons posting on here these days.

The constant slagging of players on here makes you cringe with embarrassment.

Haven't you constantly been slagging Noble for the past two years on here?

I think I read one post when it was pointed out Carroll is now being critics for working hard! That in itself sums up the idiocity of certain people.
I've no issue with offering constructive analysis and a balanced opinion as this is what forums are for but FMOB when Carroll plays he puts in more effort than some of the wannabes who I've watched recently wear the shirt.
It's like BFS style of long ball football tag which has stuck with him forever and Carroll gets tagged with being great in the air as if it's the only thing he brings to the team.
I believe he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his ability on the floor and they should mix it up when they play it into him. You don't score goals like he has against Palace last season Swansea away the year before last if you aren't technically adapt.

For me on Saturday even though it looked like we were playing two up top him and Hernandez didn't play close enough to one another to be effective.

Carroll Sakho and Hernandez are all quality players and there is no reason why they shouldn't rotate the two from positions. From what I've seen I'd far rather Carroll playing regularly than that lazy bastard Arnuatovic.

Except for the three against Spurs you mean? Which all happened with him on the pitch? And two of which came from his mistakes?

Apart from that, you mean?

Don't think the cross for his effort that hit the bar and had the keeper completely beaten was "perfect".

Would have at the very least been a contender for GotM had it gone in.

East Auckland Hammer 10:53 Mon Oct 2
Re: Carroll
To be fair to him, at least he was doing it. You could see how much effort he was putting in, and how much Sakho's goal meant to him. He literally jumped with joy when it went in.

And, if we weren't so dysfunctional at present, he probably wouldn't need to chase back like he does.
